About this site

This site is based on data researched by Paul and Lesley Gates. Data collection is an on-going process. Paul and Lesley use some software on their PC to store the data, and an extract is made periodically and imported into this website, so check regularly for updates.

To begin working with the data, choose one of the charts from the charts menu, go to the individual list, or search for a name or place.

If you have trouble using the site, try clicking on the help menu to get information on how to use the page that you are currently viewing.

The web-site is powered by phpGedView, a freely available dynamic web-content system written by John Finlay and a team of volunteers.

Making your own genealogy web-site

If you have your own genealogy data that you'd like to put on the web in a similar manner to this site, I'd be happy to advise you on how to go about it - just send a message by clicking the link below. As mentioned above, the software itself (phpGedView) is free of charge. If you'd like me to do the set-up of a website on your behalf, that is possible for some small charge.

After a very long time putting it off, I finally got round to adding all the new images and data from the end of 2007. There are lots of nice old photographs and a lot of new data in this update. See this page for thumbnails of all the new images. Click on the images to see them at the full size.
